Romantic Getaway #1: Camping in the Mark Twain National Forest

  • Location: 401 Fairgrounds Rd, Rolla, MO 65401, United States. A scenic 144-mile drive from Springfield

The national park is a scenic 2-hour drive from Springfield, and allows you to truly immerse yourself in nature. Rent, or buy, a spacious 2-person tent and set it up under the stars.   • Location: 80 miles from Springfield, 1 hour 45-minute drive South

The town is located less than a 2-hour drive from Springfield, and is a popular destination for couples wanting to explore something a little different. The charming town offers many romantic spots. 

During your getaway, stay at the Crescent Hotel, known for its historic charm. The hostel has numerous luxury suites such as the Governor's Suite and the North Penthouse. These rooms are the perfect romantic stay, with rustic, charming ambiance and a total immersion into Victorian living.

Found in the heart of Missouri’s wine district, Hermann is renowned for its award-winning wineries and picturesque scenery. It's the perfect place for couples with a love for food, and great wine to come and unwind for a weekend. 

There are many wine tastings and wine tours which allow you to explore the area, whilst tasting some of the state’s best wine in a charming setting. You can also rent a bike and take a leisurely cruise down the Katy Trail State Park which runs along the countryside and down the river.

Romantic Getaway #6 Cooper’s Oak Winery in Higbee

The Cooper Oaks Winery is a getaway which combines the best of cozy cabin charm with wine tasting and wine tours. Located a 3-hour drive North, the winery is away from the hustle and bustle of the city and allows you to enjoy an intimate getaway for a weekend. 

The onsite bed and breakfast has a small town feel which is perfect for couples looking for an understated atmosphere, and some privacy. 

The nearby wines are made onsite and offer tastings of the award-winning wines. They also offer private winery tours which allow you to learn a little more about the wine making process. After the tour, you can enjoy a romantic picnic in the vineyard, with a cheese board and some wines from the winery. 

Romantic Getaway #7 Crystal Cove Bed Luxury Log Cabins, Branson
