Springfield’s downtown area is one of our favorite places in the city. From craft breweries to exceptional restaurants, and galleries, there is so much to see and do after dark.
The downtown area is also well-known for regularly hosting nighttime events such as street fairs and food festivals.
There is even an annual downtime festival that celebrates everything the area has to offer. This makes for the perfect after-dark exploration once the kids have gone to bed.
There aren’t regularly scheduled events, so if you would like to know when the next nighttime activity is happening, you can sign up for the downtown mailing list here.

One of Springfield’s best-kept secrets is that it is home to some world-class craft breweries.
One of our favorites (and a local favorite too) is Mother’s Brewing Company, which creates a wide range of IPAs, lagers, and pale ales.
The best part? Every Saturday the brewery opens its doors to tours, allowing visitors to learn all about the production and creation of the beers.
Plus, you can tack on a tasting to your tour, allowing you to sample all the beers you have just learned about.
It is a great way to spend a child-free day and is the perfect activity to do with a loved one, or with friends.

From 6-10 pm on the first Friday of each month, downtown Springfield comes alive to showcase the arts scene of the city.
Galleries, shops, and street vendors stay open late to allow punters to browse after dark, making this a great activity to do while the children are at home.
The event involves a free, self-guided walk through all the participating venues, allowing you to take your time and absorb all the sights, smells, and sounds. You will also find steer performers, live art demonstrations, and food vendors dotted around the walking route for some extra entertainment.
This is the perfect way to spend a child-free evening with friends, as the late opening and closing times of this event caters to adults.
