Not only are the courses themselves incredible, but the natural beauty of the surrounding area really enhances the golfing experience and increases the popularity of the sport in the area.

When it comes to golf, it is hard to find a course in Springfield better than the Hickory Hills Country Club golf course. This stunning course with its meticulously kept greens has seen its fair share of incredible golfers, such as two Masters Champions, Horton Smith and Herman Keiser, along with pros Ky Lafoon, Leonard Dodson, and LPGA Champion Cathy Reynolds.

If you’re looking for a high-quality, challenging golfing experience, then this course is definitely the one for you. There are also 11 different practice facilities available, both indoor and outdoor, so you can practice your swing no matter the season. 

Rivercut Golf Course

Known as the ‘Crown Jewel’ of the Park Board’s public courses, you can’t go wrong with the Rivercut Gold Course. This course placed in the Top 10 Missouri Public Golf Courses and rated Golf Digest’s No. 1 Missouri Municipal Golf Course. 

This is an immaculately designed and well-tended course that offers a great game to anyone, regardless of skill level. Despite being on the more challenging side, everyone is welcome to try their hand at this course and enjoy the stunning views that it provides. 

Betty Allison Junior Golf Course at Oscar Blom

Are you on the hunt for a family-friendly golf course where you can get the little ones involved? The Betty Allison Junior Golf Course at Oscar Blom has got you covered. This 9-hole course is perfect for younger players who want to try out the sport or get a bit of practice in an appropriate environment. 

The best part? Children who are 12 years old and under can play for free from Sunday to Thursday. This is a great little spot with an on-site clubhouse and snack bar, so you can spend a whole day at this location. 

Horton Smith Golf Course

This is an 18-hole course that spans 6,312 yards with stunning scenery throughout. If you’re looking for a golf course where you’re going to be welcomed with open arms no matter your level of golfing experience, then this is the place for you. 

Highland Springs Country Club

The Highlands Springs County Club golf course is by far one of the most visually stunning courses in the Springfield area. Designed around the local foliage, rolling hills, and flowing streams, there is no better place to appreciate nature and your surroundings while enjoying a game of gold. 

This course has water hazards on seven holes, making for a more challenging course. That being said, this course can be tackled by golfing newbies. This is a truly spectacular course that is well-maintained and full of surprises. 

Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course

The Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course is immaculately designed with the perfect balance of fun and challenge. This 6,162-yard course is beautifully kept and although it is moderately challenging, well-seasoned and brand-new golfers alike are welcome to try their hand at it. 

At this course, you can also take advantage of their two practice greens, driving range, pro shop, and the snack bar that is located on-site. 

Island Green Golf Club

With a range of bunkers and water hazards dotted along their well-maintained course, the spot makes for a wonderful game of golf, no matter your skill level. 

Millwood Golf & Racquet Club

The golf course over at Millwood Golf and Racquet Club is a stunning 18-hole championship golf course that is great for any skill level. This course has truly got it all: elevation changes, gently rolling terrain, and gorgeous natural surroundings. 

You can also take advantage of the other amenities on-site, including two swimming pools, tennis courts, locker rooms, and practice facilities. This golf course is challenging enough to be fun and exciting, but not so challenging that new golfers cannot play it, striking the perfect balance between the two. 

Fremont Hills Country Club
